Surgery went great! Sophie had been such a trooper. Dr. Molony said the surgery was a success and he thinks that she will recover very well. She does look a little like someone who has had major brain surgery. Her bandages were a little overwhelming at first but they are definitely serving a purpose. The pressure from the tight bandages are to allow the extra blood to be forced out of her incision instead of swelling behind her skin. She is sleeping soundly with her bottle of pedialite tightly in one hand and her baby doll in the other. Everyone's prayers have definitely been at work today for Sophie. Thank you so much for taking time out and thinking of my baby girl! Thanks also to KK and ReRe for being there for me today. I got very emotional when all the Dr's and nurses wanted to go over all the risks of surgery and anesthesia. I could not have done it without them. KK is such a great cousin to Sophie! Sophie loves her so much!!!

She still is the cutest thing ever even with the head dressing! I'm glad things went well.
I'm so glad everything went great. At least she won't have to wear the bandage for long - if he does like Landon, he'll take it off at your postop tomorrow. You've made it through the toughest part mom - now comes the fun part of teaching her how to listen and talk!
I'm sure it is a relief that the surgery is over- and you're that much closer to activation day! Here's to having a quick recovery and may the waiting period until activation go by quickly for you guys!
I'm so glad everything went well. I thought about you all today. Reading this and seeing these pictures brings tears to my eyes .. one, knowing how hard it is to hand over our babies, and two, that another step is complete and the next big step is to learn to hear! How exciting!!
I'm glad everything went well!! I have 3 children-my first is going to be 5 in a few weeks and hes hearing, my 2nd has a severe hearing loss and he recently turned 3 and my daughter is going to be 1 tomorrow and she has a severe hearing loss in one ear and a moderate hearing loss in the other. We currently use hearing aids but have many friends children who use implants. Your family is beautiful! Your little girls a sweetie!
Awww she looks so much cuter than I do right now! I just had my surgery yesterday, and my bandages (not to mention my hair) look like I just got out of a war zone!
Good luck on a speedy recovery - it only gets better from here!

Hooray for Sophie. Glad things went well. Noah hated the dressings because he could hardly see. :) The docs took it off the next morning and then he was much happier.
I am so glad that everything went well. I have been thinking about you guys the past few days! I feel like I am getting a sneak peek of what is to come in two weeks. Keep us posted!!
Hi
I found your blog through the Kohler family.
So glad everything went so well with your daughter's surgery.
My son is H/I and wears hearing aids. Jared is 7 and in 1st grade in a totally oral classroom. Allison is almost 6, she is deaf and got her 1st implant in Jan 2005 and her 2nd on in April of this year. She is in K, also in a totally oral classroom. We also have a 1 year old who has normal hearing.
This is an exciting journey that is so worth taking!!

It is so great that families in the same boat can "meet".
I'm happy surgery went well Gavin is 19 months old The left ear is what got implanted(surgery) on August 1st of this year! We just barely got turn on The Sept 5th!! Oh my gosh it is amazing Gavin is hearing the oven timer 25 ft away. Which was never possible before! He has a HA on the right side he has severe hearing in the right ear. We will implant the other side when his hearing gets worst. But the audiolist says that adults who have a implant and a HA really enjoy the quality of sound they recieve. It amazed me how quickly Gavin heal from the surgery next day he was playing like nothing even happen!! Keep in touch!
